From Red Cliffs to Nowingi

Juniors, Zane, Damon and Chelsea made good time on the training social ride from Red Cliffs to Nowingi with Janelle being sole rider in the women's class and Keith and Phil filling the super master's category. These riders mainly traversed the train line side tracks which were mostly hard pack with many sandy sections.
Club champs and our up and comers Jason, Paul, Leon, Sam, Nick, Steve and Daniel as per the invitation email, railed the sand hills in style. The Northerly tail wind gave everyone a little advantage on the way down. Needless to say the sand hills were difficult with many interesting lines and forced stops.

Raye and Amanda in the support vehicles positioned themselves at points along the route providing refreshments and morale support. At Nowingi after approximately 34Km the juniors and some senior riders (the smart ones) elected to terminate their ride and opt for a return by car and loaded the bikes on the trailer.
The return journey wasn't helped by the strong northerly head wind, with riders deciding to ride the eastern side along the train line track. The heat, wind and water finally became an issue on the return with the trailer support crew picking up stragglers. After filling back packs and water bottles at Carwarp the more intrepid riders finally made it to Red Cliffs, a round trip of around almost 70km. Well done, Jason, Nick Paul, Sam and Lenny
Special thanks to Raye and Amanda for driving the support vehicles and assisting with cold drinks and food at the stops.
